Social Progress Index
We have received a donation in kind from the Social Progress Imperative to create the first ever social index for the Galapagos Archipelago. With this tool we will be able to establish the baseline situation in various social parameters allowing us to prioritize our efforts and measure progress. The Social Progress Imperative is donating $35,000 and we have to fund the rest of the study which includes logistical expenses to get our people there and interview households.​ This Index will be shared with the local authorities and governing council in order to refine areas of further study and work.
​The purpose of this initiative is to collect baseline data on the systemic issues the Galápagos Islands face to understand challenges and create sustainable solutions. The results of this Index are crucial to establishing a roadmap to prosperity and human flourishing.​The Social Progress Index measure the social indicators most relevant to the Galápagos and its people, inform public and private policies, and co-create data-driven solutions for these biodiverse-rich territories and the people that reside in them.
